Joining steel brake pipes.
Lines of 2 inch or larger are usually butt welded this being the most economic leak proof method.
Brake lines suffer impact breakage and corrosion over time and need to be replaced.
No one seems to do steel connectors foe 1 4 inch pipe only brass ones and i am sure that i have been told not to use brass fittings.
Some occasions call for replacing just a section of brake line rather than the entire length.
Smaller lines are usually joined by socket welding or screwing.
Flaremaster joining brake pipes.
It would therefore be easier if it is possible to shorten it flare the end and use a joining piece to new pipe for the remainder of the length.
Some say it is not possible with steel only copper.
There are three main methods of joining pipes together and attaching fittings to them.
I have a bit of a prob i need to join two sections of 1 4 brake pipe.
I have to change the brake pipes on my son s car as they are rusted over the back axle.
Checking the condition of your car s brake pipes is a job that is all too easy to forget because the pipes are mostly hidden underneath the car.
I have a corroded steel brake pipe on the car it is only about 50mm at the rear end the rest of the line to the front of the car is sound.
And he said no problem with joining the.
However these pipes can deteriorate to the point where they start to leak causing a dangerous loss of brake fluid and eventually partial or even complete failure of the braking system.
