Join Two Washers Into One Drain

The dishwasher which is drained to the disposal never has problems but the other sometimes gets water coming back into it.

Here is my question. The thing is that there s only one waste pipe and that s already used by the washing machine. So you can probably wye into the 3 horizontal drain line as long as you aren t exceeding the dfus for that pipe but don t connect to the existing standpipe. Both washers are about 5 years old.

The plumber hooked one up to the disposal and one to the branch tail piece. It is unlikely but i don t want to go into the garage one morning and find a big puddle. If you don t have a 3 horizontal line newish code you ll want to upsized that as well. We have had our maytag washer and dryer hooked up for many years in our basement without any problems.
